We are now accepting applications for our new postgraduate professional development award. This is open to any University or Polytechnic postgraduate students (fourth year and above) within Otago and Southland. To apply please submit an approximately three-minute long video detailing your postgraduate research to contact@otago-institute.org.
Applications will be initially judged by the Otago Institute Committee. Three finalists will be selected, who will then get the opportunity to be interviewed by and talk with by Otago Institute members and Otago-based fellows of the Royal Society of New Zealand. Following this, the Otago Institute Committee will select a “winner” who will receive the $1000 prize. The remaining two finalists will receive the two $500 prizes. This money must go to professional development, and the applicant must indicate which form this would take, e.g. “to attend a conference in Perth”, or “to establish an exhibition space at …” or “for a mentorship with …” in their application. As a condition of accepting this prize the winner must report back on what they have used the money for and how it has benefited them.
The Otago Institute members and Otago-based fellows of the Royal Society of New Zealand will also vote for a “members choice” award to go to someone other than the three finalists. This prize is also worth $500.00.
Applications close at 24:00 on 2022-10-31. Please send any questions about this award to contact@otago-institute.org
